I had a great chance to go kayaking with Wade. I was so grateful for his company since I was visiting Prince Rupert on my own. All tours where canceled due to COVID 19. I found him very professional and yet friendly. He was very careful about my safety and explained all the safety things before we head out. I was hoping to see wildlife. Though he didn’t promise anything and the weather wasn’t the greatest, we saw couple of seals and eagles. We also padded towards something that looked like a bear and turned out to be just a rock. Haha!!  Wade is a great teacher too! Every time I got stock or didn’t know how to handle the current, or clumsily, bumped into his kayak on numerous occasions, he casually and calmly explained things, like it was not a big deal. Overall, I highly recommend him if you are looking for a fun and calm day of adventure with a great instructor, who makes you feel safe and cared for!

A gorgeous trip on the North West Coast!

Wade is an amazing guide, he is knowledgeable and very helpful. He provided us all the gear and instruction we needed to ensure we had an amazing time. He was able to adjust to our specific schedule and needs. We simply described the kind of activities and experience we were hoping for and he advised us accordingly, and what we got, was so much more! Thank you Wade for helping our family to create unforgettable memories!

This day turned out to be a family adventure of a lifetime made possible only by Wade’s knowledge, experience and willingness to adapt. We felt safe in Wade’s capable hands and would not have taken such a trip if there had been any doubts otherwise.

He took the time to explain and run through all the aspects of what we will do, was completely open and honest about how we would need to be flexible in regards to the weather and so on, and the kinds of things we might encounter through our trip. He also went to great efforts to pay attention to our 9 year old daughter Hannah so that she felt she was an equal member of the team, which was greatly appreciated.

Aside from all of that, Wade was excellent company! and overall this was one of our most memorable days of our entire month long trip. From time to time when talking about our trip with family and friends this experience is always gladly brought up by the three of us. If we ever make it back to Prince Rupert in the future, we will definitely be organising another expedition with Wade.

Wade:

Thanks so much for the wonderful time we had at The Heron Nest.  It was one of the accommodations I remember most because it was the cosiest where we felt most at home.  You had everything we needed (especially the washing machine) and it was in a great location.  It gave us a chance to relax and “breathe” for a moment…..until we went on a kayak adventure with you.  DEFINITELY, a highlight!  That’s something I will always look back on with a smile.  You were a fantastic guide and just a generally all round nice guy.  Hope to see you again one day.

The day adventure with Wade was one of the highlights of our months holiday in British Columbia. We met with Wade the day before the trip to agree the itinerary, measure up for safety equipment and discuss what food to bring. The following morning Wade and his fast boat was all ready to go at the agreed 8a.m start time and after running through safety procedures we were off for an exhilarating ride out across the sound to a group of isolated and beautiful islands. My wife and I had never been in a Kayak before but under Wades instruction we soon got the hang of it and paddled leisurely around the islands without seeing another person, indeed it seemed as though we were the first people ever to visit the islands. Wade took us on a tour of the islands and also spent time in the rock pools explaining the incredible variety of life in the pools. At one point Wade found part of an old Japanese glass fishing float that had travelled across the Pacific. Cooking facilities were provided and a small fire to eat and drink around. The day was over and in flash and all to soon we were heading back to Prince Rupert. Wade clearly cares for the environment and ensures that his tours are run responsibly, he also takes safety very seriously and was clear that if weather conditions weren’t good then the day could be cancelled or shortened. Wade is an interesting person to spend time with and I enjoyed hearing about his life in Northern Canada cut off from most of the world. If we are lucky enough to be in British Columbia again then I hope to be able to do the adventure tour again. Until then we have the many photos that Wade took on the day and gave to us.
